Most of my paintings are narratives, but sometimes I do portraits with or without the narrative.  The ones here are from life rather than from photographs except in one case.  I do work from photos when the subject is a child or an animal or of someone who I do not have access to.  In such cases, I try to take the photos myself.  There are additional portraits on the Work on Paper page.
